JAIPUR: By the end of 2010, India will be having the facilities of the best forensic laboratories in the world. Also, the Union government has
decided to set six new regional Forensic Science Laboratories (FSLs), 52 mobile FSL units, three hi-tech Central laboratories and three hi-tech Central GEQD laboratories to fight crime.
Union home minister P Chidambaram, who inaugurated the 20th All India Forensic Science Conference, said the theme of the three-day conference, Crime Scene to Court Room would provide a platform to forensic experts and scientists to discuss the strategies to counter cyber crime, naxalism and other crimes.
He also said the government has allocated Rs 300 crore under 11th five-year plan for upgrading forensic laboratories with best technology.
Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said government is hopeful about the outcome of the three-day conference.
