The Americans use something similar in Iraq and Afghanistan! Its very effective against RPG's as it prevents the RPG round from hitting the APC itself.

Called Cage Armor, this was long due for our forces, especially doing the counter insurgency operations. APCs protected by such armor gives them more protection and they can be loaded with heavy weaponry to support the troops and in the hardest of the battles they can perform without fear, as RPGs is the main deadly weapon with militants and if you give armor protection to armor formations they can be send anywhere with the ground troops and help in eliminating militants and casualties would be low too.

MVRDE come up with such prototypes all the time. I do not think this has been put in production as of yet and there is always a possibility that this may never see serial production.

They can be built in Kit form and supplied as an add on in the field. Our unts in the field are in desperate need of this type of protection.

The APC protection becomes more important in low intensity conflicts and can prevent majority of hit and runs. The cage will preempt the RPG's direct impact and is a good addition by HIT.

Idk of the land rover defender variants Pakistan uses for their APCs have this.

The Mohafiz looks pretty flat under the base but the sides are slightly sloped.

It is good that they are upgrading the M113s they should also use add on armor kits like Turkey does to bring the ballistic protection up to par. M113s stock armor is pretty thin for modern times.
