Right of vote for dual nationals, expats: treasury

ISLAMABAD - Pakistan has decided to grant the right of vote to three million expatriate Pakistanis. The decision to grant the right of vote to expats was taken during a meeting of the federal cabinet. The Law Ministry was directed to consult the expats regarding compilation of voter lists and voting procedures in their respective countries of residence. The ministry would also amend the rules of procedures regarding voting patterns to facilitate the expats. The amendments would be tabled in the next meeting of the cabinet and would be floated in parliament for sovereign approval to make it part of the electoral laws. Per reports, the caretaker government would be sworn in on December 27 and elections would be held on April 4, 2013.
