For the first time ever, the campaign of the Ribbon of Saint George started in Syria.More than 1, 500 Ribbons were given away by the Syrian Students from Damascus state university for less than a half hour, along with notes saying what the Ribbon mean for Russia and for the Russian people.

''For us the symbol of the victory is realy important.Just like you have your symbol about the victory against facism, we want to have owr own for the victory against the terorrism and with the help of Russia we will win''.said the head of the Russian language department at Damascus University.

That is exactly my point.
In a war-torn Muslim country, giving away ribbons that are only good for Alawite and Christian minorities would only antagonize local Muslims against those minorities.

Next time they will pretend to be generous with free pork meals and vodka.
