Thanks to the author for coming up with some policy recommendations. Timing couldn't have been better. The entire spectrum of geopolitics and geostrategies is being reshuffled, and it's not done by mere mortals. The folks with better Niyet and Amel will prevail. Now is the time to come up with Gayret, for Tevfik is from none other than Allah-u Azimushshan....

Nuclear umbrella, UNSC permanent seat, this and that? Looks like the writer is merely a teenager with lots of fantasies and a wishlist of things: I want to do.

The writer is more focused on topics related to defence and strategic affairs than economic ones--establishment of another militiary alliance???
Secondly, the writer doesnt mention how this body will arrange finances to make his dreams a reality, and what if interests of one of RESTO members condradict with those of others--especially incase of Afghanistan? And last but no the least, the given time frame (vision 2025) is unrealistic indeed.
Ideas visualized in his dreaming moments are nothing more than fantasies.

With SAARC dying, Pakistan's has rightly put its bets on ECO. I would have preferred a smaller grouping for ECO than 12 or 13 countries spread across Eurasian continent.

The author is an idiot. He should have kept his mouth shut and allow Muslim Central Asia to be squeezed like a lemon between Russia, China, India, unstable Middle East and Crusader NATO.

Aero you cant really change until that nation wants to change and these countries are two busy with playing lifes of there citizens and money

To go for radical change in thinking you nees leaders who think out side of the box and for that you even if you have one leader it wont matter until people are ready to listen to him and take him as leader
Leme give you a example kashmir issue can be solved
If Leaders of Pakistan and india at the same time and take a genuine approach for the betterment of people living in these areas . What will happen in the end they will lose there political carrier and wont see positive change
A politician looks for next election while leader thinks for next generation

This part may sound bad
But in honesty even this situation we are not ready to change than only worse will come

Sir! He should have kept a realistic approach. While there are inter-state conflicts between proposed members of RESTO i.e. Pakistan and Afghanistan blame game, Iran blaming Pakistan for uncontrolled border etc, the true purpose and goals of proposed alliance cannot be achieved without resolving those conflicts.
Secondly, financing the proposed projects is a big deal. Atleast Pakistan is not in the position to finance RESTO projects in this short timeframe (2017-2025) while we are dealing with CPEC projects.
First we need to make alliance members --atleast Pakistan--economically strong. The bigger your economy, the deep your diplomatic influence and the strong your militiary could be.

And do you think Organization members will stand aside Afghanistan against foreign aggressors (US and co.) ?? I dont think so.

If these countries don't gang up, they're going get turned into surrogates.

Let's not forget that the success of any multilateral agreement depends on the level of commitment and seriousness of its constituent member countries. Not just ECO...all Muslims-only agreements have done nothing beneficial rather created some false hopes (that too only in the start, now none takes them seriously) and a good example is OIC... I mean what's the purpose of that dinosaur? it couldn't avoid invasion of the CRUSADERS in the middle east (Libya, Iraq, Syria) and Afghanistan...it failed miserably to stop war between Iran and Iraq, Yemen and KSA +UAE...
Name changes won't alter anything on ground ... other than just another name for the students to cram and write an essay on in exams..

We should all remember that EU was made through NATO i.e., the countries united to put a joint defense than when things ease up they all joined up to make a union of their economies. The author is right is expanding the scope of the organization. Moreover, if interest of members countries are not discussed and furthered through ECO than it is useless for the ECO to remain

One correction..some of them are already surrogates, they need to changed and break this yoke of slavery and make independent decisions. Kabul is in bed with india now and Ashraf Ghani the idiot opted out from participation so now we need to by pass Kabul until a favourable regime change takes place in Kabul.

The idea of Pak itself was born out of a "dream"...

Aziz Kardeshim, the story doesn't end here. There's a nothing called Hakiki Afgans, and they are kicking hard...

They already are and its already too late
It's never "too late" till the last breadth leaves the lungs...
