This is great news. Man, if India gets in it becomes our responsibility to help get the other 3 fellows in as a part of G4. One of the main agreements for this resolution (at least what I read) was that entry of any G4 countries will mean that the entrant will help get the other 3 on board.

Says who? The whole point of India getting into UNSC is veto. Otherwise what is the damn use of us getting in when without it itself we are powerful enough? Come on dude; apply logic. There's no other reason why we would want UNSC.

The UNSC reforms are to allow more people into decision making and in an effective way-- VETO is the only logic behind this.

It was our earlier stand. But India along with other G4 members have changed their position. So all G4 members as well as existing permanent members are in support of expansion without veto.

We had to gave up veto to get things moving faster, this is a step by step process, first let us get UNSC seat than we will look after veto.

Dude UNSC is itself useless in many ways. It has no real power, all power belongs to US.

In my view UNSC permanent seat is something more like status in the world body. But we can say that we won it with supports and power while all the existing members were gifted, at that time 1946 only US and USSR were worthy of it and through out the century we have seen it.

so the bottum line is , india into the UNSC without veto power....

it means if on a issue india not agree , indian views don't matter....

anyway , even in the casE of china , in 1989 , after T-square incident , the US and EU put their own senctions of arms sell to china by bypassing UN....

does UNSC really has any meaning infront of NATO or the EU , i mean they can still puch themself even without UN....and UNSC still depens on NATO for action....
