Well I called it as something SpaceX would do ( https://defence.pk/pdf/threads/chin...-donald-trumps-fcc-chie.642067/#post-11876868 ). but it looks like Apple is also jumping into it. We can finally see this happening:

Bloomberg has cited sources familiar with Apple plans saying that the iPhone-maker has a "top-secret" team dedicated to developing satellite technology that could, among other things, allow Apple's mobile devices to communicate with each other without relying on wireless carriers like Verizon, Deutsche Telekom, or China Mobile.

Former Google satellite and aerospace engineers Michael Trela and John Fenwick lead the team, Bloomberg's sources say. They left Google in 2017 to join Apple. They report to Apple's iPhone engineering lead. The company has also hired prominent wireless engineer Matt Ettus and established executives Ashley Moore Williams (Aerospace Corp) and Daniel Ellis (Netflix).

While it's uncertain that the final outcome of this project will be freedom from carriers, it's not surprising that Apple would at least explore that possibility. It has struggled against and with carriers throughout the history of the iPhone, and Apple's philosophy of seeking end-to-end integration of all aspects of a product is well-known. The company is also rumored to be developing silicon that would replace Intel CPUs in its Mac products, for example, and it is attempting to develop its own cellular modems to include future iPhones.

Apple is not the only tech company to explore launching satellites. Amazon plans to launch thousands in the near future, and other tech companies have made attempts to build satellite-based networks (though many have failed).

Bloomberg's sources did not clarify whether Apple plans to build and deploy these satellites itself or if it plans to instead work with an established player in that space.

why we need satellite phones for ata and daal and milk ? really? we dont need such smart phones. we can easily live with nokia 3310.. its another game going on.
otherwise, be prepared to get monitored 24/7

Because everybody on the planet wouldn't have to wait for companies to wire up towers near them with the latest "G".. With total control Apple could screen out spam and spoofed calls. Your phone would be numberless and work similar to Skype/Facetime. You could ditch SIM cards and use your phone anywhere in the world including the middle of the ocean. Lots of changes could happen.

Can use it on the plane too if the airline allows it.

Good for you, Apple Inc. Good for you.

Amazing. Using the phone anywhere would be very convenient. Love Apple.

Because Apple wouldn't allow crap like this to happen on their phones:
https://newyork.cbslocal.com/2019/12/16/schumer-calling-on-phone-carriers-to-help-stop-robocalls/

Sen. Chuck Schumer says he wants to crackdown on robocall scams, especially during the holidays.

“Senior citizens get calls saying your son is in jail, please wire us $5,000 bail or he’ll be stuck in there forever, and they do,” the senator said. “They get scared.”

Schumer announced Sunday he’s hoping to pass new Traced Act legislation by the end of the year. The bill would require all phone-carriers to provide anti-robocall blocking devices.

Fines for those caught operating robocalls would also increase.

Schumer says most of the scams operate from overseas, but that the FBI is still equipped to go after the suspects

The augmented experience provided will remain pretty much the same and in realistic scenarios worse than with your Nokia 3310 on a regular line in the next half decade but they arent paid and interested to tell you the whole truth about that.

The consumer market of course will judge what is good or bad. If it doesn't meet expectations it simply won't sell.

Apple has obviously been shown a prototype of some cutting-edge satellite communication tech that will give them an edge in the market. They are going to exploit it before their competitors.

Apple Has Secret Team Working on Satellites to Beam Data to Devices
The iPhone maker is ramping up hiring, hoping for the initiative to produce results within five years.

Apple Inc. has a secret team working on satellite technology that the iPhone maker could use to beam internet services directly to devices, bypassing wireless networks, according to people familiar with the work. The Cupertino, California-based iPhone maker has about a dozen engineers from the aerospace, satellite and antenna design industries working on the project with the goal of deploying their results within five years, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal company efforts. Work on the project is still early and could be abandoned, the people said, and a clear direction and use for satellites hasn’t been finalized. Still, Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook has shown interest in the project, indicating it’s a company priority.

Apple’s work on communications satellites and next-generation wireless technology means the aim is likely to beam data to a user’s device, potentially mitigating the dependence on wireless carriers, or for linking devices together without a traditional network. Apple could also be exploring satellites for more precise location tracking for its devices, enabling improved maps and new features.

These companies are getting too big and need to be broken down and sold off in smaller parts.

On other hand Apple won't allow you to repair your phone at the places you like or it say you don't own the copy of music's you buy .

How about battery life?

Can we still use the phone for entire day without recharging it during the afternoon?

Sending and receiving signal from a long distance required a big power.
