Renault’s Sherpa Light Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC) stationed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport by Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) was center of attraction among passengers at the airport which was deployed on trial bases to handle possible Terror attacks as part of the ongoing evaluation process being carried out by CISF which are considering procuring them for Delhi airport to be used by Quick Reaction Team (QRTs) . Sherpa Light family of vehicles from Renault are light armored tactile vehicles designed to transport infantry, paratroopers, internal security personnel, etc. The vehicle is an on-/off-road platform with an MD 5 diesel engine that packs in 292PS of power. Sherpa is equipped with a full-time 4X4 system, automatic gearbox, air-conditioning, hydraulic power steering, retractable electric winch at the front and at the back, run-flat tires, central tire inflation system, anti-lock braking system, etc. Sherpa can accommodate four fully armed commandos and can hit speeds of 120km/hr.
