Regional Cooperation and Development (RCD) a Bygone Era.

R.C.D was established on the 21st of July 1964 by Pakistan,Turkey and Iran, regional members of the Central Treaty Organisation (CENTO), to allow and enhance socio-economic development,regional integration,transportation and trade links between the member states. The R.C.D nations have always been culturally,religiously,historically and geographically linked to each other through centuries.

In its brief fifteen year of existence RCD strived to enhance military and economic relationships as well. Pakistan was a great beneficiary of this during its conflicts with India. An RCD highway was built between Karachi to Taftan. Talks for a joint Airways TUPAIR were progressing and many many more.In 1979, this organization was dissolved because of the Iranian Revolution.
It was revived by RCD countries as ECO in 1985, with eight more countries joining later.

Hopefully in the near future this region will become at par with other Economic Regions.

The biggest stumbling block was not having decent ties with Soviet Union if we had decent ties with the USSR not be the "Yank" rentier state and had the Soviets decided not to go into Afghanistan in 1979 this would have happen then the 90s USSR broke up guess what benefited the Indians and the Chinese Pakistan had to deal with mess of Soviet Afghan War and domestic political bull s..t thanks Yanks you had your Berlin Wall fell but we got nothing form them

Iran & Turkey sent medical staff to Pakistan in the 1965 war. Iranian & Turkish nurses attended wounded Pakistani Jawans in hospital. Great spirit of RCD and brotherhood was displayed .
