Went Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry Sunday to Jerusalem, where he met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, on a visit is the first of its kind since 2007, thanks deemed "important" to move the peace process between Palestinians and Israelis.

Shukri pointed out that the solution to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict for decades, would have a "positive impact on the Middle East region," stressing that Egypt is ready "to contribute effectively" to achieve this goal.
With Netanyahu, for his part, "I welcome the offer last president Sisi Egyptian efforts to advance peace with the Palestinians ahead and broader peace in our region." Netanyahu also called on the Palestinians to direct negotiations.
And negotiations at a standstill since the US-led efforts failed in April / April 2014.
It is noteworthy that the Egyptian foreign minister visited Ramallah in the occupied West Bank on June 29 last and met with Palestinian officials. In May / May, al-Sisi said that the Palestinians and the Israelis in front of "a real chance" to resolve the dispute.
The Egyptian Foreign Ministry confirmed in a statement Sunday that the visit of thanks "aimed at drawing the impetus to the peace process of the Palestinian-Israeli, in addition to discussing a number of files relating to the political aspects of bilateral relations and regional situation."
The Israeli public radio that the visit of Egyptian Foreign Minister has come in the context of the preparation of a possible visit of Netanyahu to Cairo.
According to an Israeli official, the Netanyahu asked Shukri during a meeting Sunday to assist Egypt to be able to take over the bodies of two soldiers and Israeli civilians being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
