Rayyan Air : First flight from Islamabad to Kashgar on June 26

First, its not the issue of Indian's owning the airline.. its the aircraft age.. and condition.
Operating a 747 is a very expensive deal and trying to pull that off with a 33yr old 747 is sheer idiocy.
I think this is more of an experiment to test Pakistani willingness to allow investment from India.. which is fine.

Rayyan Air has only two Boeing 747's, that too configured for a Cargo role.

You do not get a permit or a NOC from CAA unless you get 3 aircraft.

Air Indus has been toiling for the same as well, they have got 2 aircraft at Karachi but until they get the third one they can't fly.

IMO, this story is BS and sooner or later this whole idea would go bust.

ISLAMABAD: Chief Executive Officer of Rayyan Air Capt Fateh Sher Bhatti visited the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry and revealed that Rayyan Air is about to commence direct flights between Islamabad and Kashgar in China to facilitate businessmen and people of both countries to exchange visits and explore new areas of mutual cooperation.

This comes after China’s plans to extend rail links from Kashgar to Gwadar to increase trade through Gwadar port.

Bhatti said the first flight from Islamabad to Kashgar will take off on June 26, 2013. He said Kashgar is emerging as one of the largest Special Economic Zones in the world and a direct air service between Pakistan and Kashgar would open many new avenues of trade, exports, investment and joint ventures between the two countries.

Suspended Kashgar-Islamabad charter flights to resume after 2 year lull

Charter flights from Xinjiang's Kashgar to Pakistani capital of Islamabad will recommence on April 1, 2013 after a two-year suspension.

Wang Yongzhi, an official from the Kashgar government disclosed that the resumed service will be operated by Pakistani carrier Rayyan Air and using A310 and A320 aircraft.

Rayyan Air will initially offer one flight a week and be increased to two weekly in the later half this year. It is expected to be able to carry about 500 tonnes of freight every year, Mr Wang said.

Rayyan Air CEO Fateh Sher Bhatti said the roads between Pakistan and Kashgar are unsatisfactory and often closed down in winter, suggesting that charter flights might be a solution to ground transport and difficulties and meet growing demand in China and Pakistan.

The service was first launched in 2010 but closed due to low demand. But as trade between China and Pakistan grew in the past two years, plus the continuous upgrade of Kashgar airport's facilities and subsidies provided by the local government, the carrier has decided to recommence the service.

Covering an area of 162,000 kilometres, Kashgar is situated at the southwestern part of Xinjiang, bordering eight countries including Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan.

I thought Civil Aviation Authority wants Private Airlines to establish in Pakistan for at least 1 year, before moving to international routes. Or am i wrong and the new government changed this rule ?

Anyways this sounds like a crappy airline like Boja and defunct airlines such as Aero Asia.

Currently in Pakistan there are only two good Private Airlines.

Air Blue
