Dr Mirza expressed his pleasure over the Rangers’ raid, arrest of wanted criminals and termed the action ‘a bold step’.—Online/File

BADIN: Former home minister Dr Zulfikar Ali Mirza has said that during his tenure he himself wanted to carry out a raid on the MQM headquarters similar to the one conducted on Wednesday but his friend [PPP co-chairman] Asif Ali Zardari always restrained him from taking any such step.

Speaking by phone from London to journalists and his supporters present in the local press club on Wednesday, he expressed his pleasure over the Rangers’ raid and arrest of some wanted criminals and termed the action ‘a bold step’.

He said he would offer assistance to the law enforcement agencies by sharing his knowledge about criminals and their activities.

He advised Mr Zardari to go with the sane and patriot people of the country instead of selling out Sindh to [MQM chief] Altaf Hussain and [Bahria Town chief] Malik Riaz in league with people like Rehman Malik.

Referring to the raid on the Nine Zero, Dr Mirza said it seemed that his dream of Sindh getting rid of terrorism was coming true. He hoped that the criminals being arrested by the Rangers would be brought to justice.

Dr Mirza condemned the alleged arrest of his supporters in Badin police in recent days “at the behest of his rivals within the PPP and said he would soon rejoin his supporters to resume his struggle against corrupt and inept administration”.

Allah Bachayo Memon, a close aide to Dr Mirza, was detained in a raid on his house on Tuesday night but had to be let off as scores of people, including traders, held a demonstration outside the Model police station demanding his release.

Pro-Mirza activists of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) said Mr Memon was among several of their like-minded party workers picked up during raids on their houses in Badin during the night.

They said they, along with local traders and supporters, strongly protested against their detention without any charges. They said Taj Mohammad Mallah, Tanweer Ahmed Arain, Tarique Ahmed Memon and others held talks with SHO Wali Mohammad Chang, who freed Mr Memon after keeping him in detention for two hours.

Meanwhile, a trader, Haji Khan Lashari, who was detained at the Talhar police station three days ago, was released on Wednesday. He told a press conference that he was detained a the behest of Dr Mirza’s arch rival in the district, MNA Sardar Kamal Chang and Talhar MPA Allah Bukhsh Talpur.

. . . .
The man who a few days ago admitted to giving out thousands of weapon licenses to lyari gang members is calling other people terrorists? Every political party in Pakistan has armed members so I'm surprised at this glee when nine-zero is raided.

Tameez se baat kiya kr PTI walay , Yeh teri party ka forum nahi.

well the question remain same ... if he a guy been shot in front of ranger , and they didnt even cordon off the area , search every other person , that who has the gun , and arrest him ... its simple , so why dont Rangers react ? when a young boy been shot in front of them ... and in footage it seems that so many " Nafri " of Rangers were there //
I don't think ranger have seen what camera have captured at first instant, still situation is unclear that who shot the boy. that ranger guy who pulled his pistol or that mysterious person who provoking ranger to shot on head.

and did that " worker " who shoot this guy been arrested ?

Probably even they didn't know what had happened .. and at the same time the crowd go ape shit ...... And ironically the same guy who shot (and had the weapon on him) is leading the crowd and inciting violence .. The Rangers are later seen trying to push the crowd back (see te pics).

2011 Sindh Rangers shooting incident - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sarfaraz Shah was shot by the paramilitaries in Karachi.[2] The video from Karachi, which has been broadcast widely on Pakistani television, is considered disturbing to watch.[3] It shows a young man in a black t-shirt being dragged by his hair in a public park by a man in plain clothes. He is pushed towards a group of uniformed rangers armed with G3 battle rifles. The young man, who does not appear to be armed, pleads for his life as one of the Rangers points a gun at his neck. The Ranger then shoots him twice at close range with the rifle, hitting him in the thigh and arm. The young man is seen writhing on the ground, screaming in pain, bleeding heavily and begging for help as the video ends, he is not taken to hospital by rangers. He died of blood loss.
We all saw that video ... Sarfraz was a street criminals ho was caught robbing a lady with a pistol .. During the episode he several times tried to grab or touch the weapon of the ranger .. And was shot only once in the thigh .. which appears to be a rather incidental discharge .. (Watch the full video).. An ambulance was called and he was taken to a hospital where he died.

P.S: I you think it has anything to do with ethnicty .. than let me tell you that sarfraz was from Kashmir or Punjab and not an urdu speaker.

That person had a handgun which he pulled out from under his shirt ..(ranger was away from him at that time).. and just as he did hear a gunshot.

That was an isolated incident. Yet MQM has a history of killing it's own workers, including its founder Imran Farooq. Fairly recently, MQM burnt alive 280 factory workers, who were probably MQM supporters themselves.
