Arming B-1 with large number of ultra long range AAMs.....

"One of the recommendations by RAND in its latest study on Chinese air power, is to arm the B-1 bomber with 20 or more Patriot or SM-2 missiles in air-to-air role to engage Chinese fighters during a conflict in Taiwan.

This strategy will allow the USAF to engage a large number of Chinese fighters beyond the range of their missiles and disengage before any survivors can react.

Another platform would be the new stealth penetration bomber being develop. The new bomber will attack its prey silently with target cueing provide by the F-22."

Analysis of Chinese Military Doctrine Indicates China Could Pose Serious Challenge to U.S. and Allied Air Forces | RAND

But does B-1 Lancer has stealth and long range radar? Or will be cued by other resources?

.
Why would they release this kind of information? lol

It's like a bank robber releasing their plans on how their going to rob a bank -.-

. . .
Rand is a "think tank" and not part of the US government. They are making recommendations based on their analysis of a possible conflict.

One thing I have read about the long-range missile capability is that the F-22A will soon have the capability to provide targeting information to missiles fired by other aircraft. This means that a B-1B or other non-stealth aircraft can fire missiles without having a radar lock, and the F-22A's fire control system can provide those missiles with targeting information and course correction updates.

.
kinda remind me of the documentary praising the superiority of American air power with F-22 acting as target seeker for B-1 since it can be modified to carry much more anti air missile on board.
