KANKE, RANCHI DISTRICT: Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi on Saturday blamed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rising terrorist activities in Kashmir, where militants from Pakistan launched four terror attacks on Friday leaving 11 security personnel, including a lt colonel dead and killing two civilians.
"He (Narendra Modi) had said he will deal with China and Pakistan when he would become Prime Minister. During UPA rule, tourists used to come to Kashmir. There was peace in Jammu & Kashmir. Soon after Modi government came, terrorist activities started. Now terrorists not tourists are coming to Kashmir," Rahul Gandhi said at an election rally in Kanke assembly segment on Saturday afternoon.
He further attacked Modi, "Before elections, wherever he goes, communal riots take place. Be it in Maharashtra, Delhi or Uttar Pradesh communal riots definitely take place. They put people of one community against the people of another community. The election takes place after the communal riots."
The Gandhi scion said BJP is not concerned about people empowerment. "They want to snatch away the power from you. They are trying to dilute Land Acquisition Bill, MNREGA scheme and other laws which we brought," he said.
He compared the BJP's policies with Congress's and said Congress wants to empower people while BJP wants to empower only PM Narendra Modi. "Modi wants all power in his hands and says he will change everything. Do you remember his promise of acche din?" he asked a humble gathering.
He also mocked Modi's promise to bring black money back and his Adarsh Gram Yojana. "There is no budget for Adarsh Gram Yojana," he said.
"Instead of bringing achche din, Modi left for foreign tour and asked people to clean the roads. His ministers also started cleaning the roads," he said. In detail, Rahul Gandhi recalled the laws UPA government passed during its two terms and claimed the laws empowered the common man.
