BERLIN: German authorities have discovered more than 150 tonnes of radioactive metal imported from India, the environment ministry said yesterday, adding the material posed no environmental or health threat. Information about the material came from various German states, a ministry spokeswoman said, partly confirming a report to be published in tomorrow's edition of Der Spiegel. "The situation is not dramatic," she said. According to the newsweekly, the material bearing traces of Cobalt-60 and coming from three Indian foundries ended up in 12 of Germany's 16 federal states. Radioactive products from India were also discovered last year in France, the Netherlands and Sweden.
