The way I look at it, Chinese population of ASEAN takes their identity very serious and they ensure that they are culturally identified as chinese but not as a nationality. They do not like to be considered as mainland chinese, so they wish to maintain their separate identity. Even the language they speak is not the same.

Fact remains that more than half of muslim-majority states have outlawed apostasy and promote conversion of minorities with mechanism which is aimed at eradicating religious minorities at some point in the future.

By the way, Maldives is a country where only Sunni islam is permitted to exist and whoever belonging to any other religious group had his/her passport taken away. And "popular media" didn't even report about it.

Of course Sri Lanka is not any better. Many times, I said that Sri Lanka has a lot to learn from Singapore and I am not an ambassador for Sri Lanka. I can express my views without having to bear the burden of representing SL at every one of my posts.

Many of the Chinese in SEA are more Confucian than some folks in China. I know. I've dated some Chinese Filipinos before who preserve the traditions of their grandfathers.

They speak Hokkien, Hakka, Cantonese. Funny as a Shanghainese I know some too.

Just now I mentioned how about putting minorities in posh neighbhorhood to prevent them from ghetto-zation.

Not a single country other than Singapore has done it.

Singapore has a racial quota in all the public housing. We make sure that minorities are spread out and as the Chinese are richer, study harder, the schools are better.

So minorities has chance to mix with Chinese.

The Chinese Internet users nowadays are very anti-Singapore, so don't blame us for being hostile to your country.

BTW, Singapore also hasn't done any less to stab China in the back.
