The British had a huge encampment at Quetta,Baluchistan. It was briefly captured by the them during the First Afghan War in 1839, in 1876 Quetta became part of the British Empire. British Troops constructed the infrastructure for their establishment as it was a strategic location. By the time of the earthquake on 31 May 1935 Quetta had developed into a bustling city with a number of multistory buildings, vibrant commercial centres and it was well known for its fruit gardens and lush greenery. The epicentre of the earthquake was close to the city and destroyed most of the city’s infrastructure and killed an estimated 40,000 people.Below is a brief visit to a bygone era.

Quetta is near the Bolan Pass, route which was once one of the major gateways from Central Asia to South Asia . It was a major staging point for the British for their campaigns inside Afghanistan and beyond.Today it is a major cantonment for the Pakistan Army Southern Command .The XII Corps, also known as Quetta Corps is currently stationed in Quetta. Some say had the British been successful in subduing the Afghans and the Persians our borders today would have been different.

Does this still exist.

Why are some Pakistanis proud of British imperialism?
Frankly they give us bigger freedom from Hinduvata and cow lynchistan India. That's enough reason to thank.

.
wherever white people go, they make civilized enclaves for themselves..true even in the midst of African svannah...This is a bitter truth..other races should learn from them

British were good and had a soft corner for the Muslims of the subcontinent.
Not at all. After the 1857 failed independence war, Brits put all the blame on Muslims. They kill so many muslim scholars and govt demolished the madrassas and cease agricultural lands of many Muslims. Just because of conspiracy, Muslims leads the war , in reality hindu were equally partner in war but latter they throw all blames on muslims. British govt never encourage industry in muslim dominance territory, because might it effect the military recruitment if muslims found job in their home towns. Unemployment force them to join British army. In the time of partition , when they were favouring the hindu state with east punjab, Kashmir Hyderabad,Junagarh, Manawadar,Mangrol and three River of West Pakistan ,British govt not remember sacrifices of muslim soldiers in WW 1 and 2 for the empire. Otherwise it might be buried beneath of German Nazi state. They always favour non muslims over the Muslims. That's a fact of history. Thanks.

Did British force Muslims to join the British Army? No. People join military for various reasons and one of it is to find a job. Some joined Military and end up fighting in WW I and WW II, Some joined Police forces and end up fighting our own people and some studied & went to Britain for higher studies like Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and Sir Allama Muhammad Iqbal . Note that both have been award knighthood.

Of course British, like all other powers, enforced strict control but that was not limited to Muslims. Heck even their white brothers in US revolted against the British taxes to gain Independence.

I think he meant it sarcastically, rest is all history which we all know.

The fact the there many Muslims in UK including you is proof that British had been and are still being good to Muslims.

Don't Southasians have their own enclaves in the UK?

Don't Southasians have their own enclaves in the UK?

The only South Asian enclave that comes close to matching the First World is Mauritus....by enclave I mean built ground up, and not moving into something already built...The Chinese have us beat though cause they built Singapore and Taiwan even when Mainland China was a dump (few decades back not now).............

@Indus Pakistan and @Mangus Ortus Novem would understand this well and may be able to add to this

There are many small office districts through out South Asia which after thorough cleaning and a clean coat of paint, won't look out of place in a Western European city centre...All those are legacies of the Brits

They also destroy/assimilate local cultures. Excel at leaving carbon copies of their own. (Wannabe's)
Take parts of North Africa, Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and countries like Japan.
