QUETTA: A powerful blast followed by another explosion on Zarghon Road in Quetta killed four people while injuring 18 others on Wednesday, Express News reported.
The area is reported to be a local commercial hub, and is suffering from a severe traffic jam following the blast.
Police and rescue services have arrived on site, but definite details of the incident have yet to emerge.
The bomb disposal squad said that the first explosion used 6-7 kilograms of explosive material.
Police did say that the second explosion happened due to a CNG cylinder exploding inside a car.
The injured, three of whom are understood to be in a very critical condition, are being transported to local hospitals by Edhi ambulances.
Reports indicated that the explosive material may have been placed in a car.
The explosions destroyed nearby buildings, cars and shattered windows. Widespread panic was witnessed at the site of the blast.
President, PM condemn incident
President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif have strongly condemned the blasts. They directed authorities to extend the best possible medical treatment to the injured.
