pardon me on my being illiterate ..urdu-wise...if what i've seen on some tv show episode on youtube, textbooks of govt schools in punjab need a revision on the history being taught.Do note the same is not schoed in other provinces like sindh

These patwaries are obsessed with laptops, tabs and other goodies of the kind. Someone should kick them in the rear and tell them how many kids are sitting outside school and what is our current literacy rate. Instead of doing something to bring all those kids to schools, they are busy distributing laptops and other stuff. :hitwall:

Best to deal with ghost schools first. Fancy projects can come later. Where the hell are our priorities? I would rather have government of Punjab improve education budget and deal with ghost schools first. It might take a year or two. Then we can go for fancy high tech stuff. That would be the right and appropriate thing to do. Meanwhile we can launch a pilot scheme. But let us make it a federal initiative rather than a government of Punjab brain wave.

These are minor issues you guys are talking about, Khidmat cards are our priority right now :coffee:

Efforts afoot to launch ‘Khidmat Cards’ scheme

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that shortage of electricity was the biggest problem of the country and government was taking measures on emergency basis to resolve the problem.

He said revolutionary measures were being taken for the welfare of the masses which include issuing Khidmat Card and setting up of Punjab Rozgar Bank for providing job opportunities to the youth.

He said people would feel relief during the next two and half years due to the measures taken by the government and the elements involved in price hike, hoarding and profiteering will be behind the bars.

Talking to a private TV channel, the chief minister said Pakistan was rich in resources but it was looking for aid and it is need of the hour that indigenous resources should be developed for achieving self-sufficiency.

He said maladministration will have to be eliminated and national responsibility will have to be discharged in every sector. He said it was lamentable that Nandipur power project remained pending for two and a half years during the tenure of the former rulers which was a criminal negligence. However, he said, present government immediately after coming into power revived this project and 98 percent of its machinery has reached Nandipur. He said work was being carried out speedily on this project and its first turbine will start operating from the beginning of the next year due to which 100 to 150 megawatts electricity will be added to the national grid.

He said he was adhering to his promise regarding accountability as indiscriminate action should be taken against those who have looted national resources.

He said no scandal had surfaced during the last five months of the present government which was a big achievement. He said the present leadership served the masses during its last tenure and even greater steps would be taken for the welfare and betterment of the people in future. He said metro bus project was completed and around 0.14 million people were benefiting from this system.

He said Khidmat Card was being launched which will benefit 1.3 million families while interest free loans would be provided to the educated youth through Punjab Rozgar Bank for setting up their business. He said that agreements have been signed with several countries to cope with energy problem and these projects include hydle, solar, coal, biogas and biomass projects.

The chief minister said that PTI on the one hand was protesting against drone attacks while on the other hand it was receiving foreign aid which is a contradiction. He said PML-N leadership renounced such foreign aid in May, 2011, two and a half years ago which was at the cost of the blood of innocent Pakistanis and it is still adhering to its decision. He said friendship with America is possible without aid. He said the present leadership tolerated criticism and also sought guidance from it.

He said the elements involved in plundering of national resources deserve no leniency and the government launched indiscriminate action against gas and electricity thieves first time in national history. He said due to the measures taken by the government people would feel relief from price hike during next two and a half years.

Replying to a question about increase in power tariff, he said the consumers using up to 200 units are being given a subsidy of Rs 155 billion while those consuming from 200 to 300 units are being given a subsidy of Rs 8.5 billion. He said the present government had also paid circular debt of Rs 500 billion. He said the goal of progress and prosperity would be achieved and a bright future of the nation would be ensured.
