Just let them beg the Russian sell them some second-tier jets while the first-tier go to the wealthy Indians. J-10C/J-10CE is a decent jet fighter (no Pakistani member asserted that it is bad) but Pakistan Air Force (PAF) is getting JF-17 Thunder Block 3. This jet fighter features a new HUD (J-20 style), HMD/S (J-10C type), MAWS (J-10C type), KLJ-7a AESA radar system (Chinese 2nd generation AESA; similar to American AN/APG-63v2 in capabilities), Digital FBW system (F-16 type), and Russian RD-93MA engine (better than the original). There are additional improvements such as in DSI intake, greater application of composites in the airframe than before, and increased hardpoint count. IRST solution will be mounted like in earlier Blocks (Turkish ASELPOD) which is understandable because JF-17 airframe have limited room for embedded stuff. Block 3 is well-equipped to utilize Chinese PL-15 munition nevertheless which is the desired objective. Therefore, WE are not missing much.

The immediate threat to PAF is from French Rafale F-3Ri supplied to the Indian Air Force (IAF). It is a sophisticated Medium-weight class jet fighter.

If there is a need to procure J-10C/J-10CE in numbers, PAF will consider it. It is Medium-weight class (bigger than JF-17) and can be a good force multiplier.

Now how J-10C/J-10CE stack up to the formidable F-15E and the latest F-15EX is open to debate and caution is advised.

Sino-Thai military excercises have created following impression:

Russian Su-27 (original) < Chinese J-11 variants < Swiss JAS-39 C/D < Chinese J-10C/CE

Very instructive.

But keep in mind the fact that JAS-39 C/D are outdated and positioned at the Low End spectrum of Western jet fighters in existence.


JAS-39 E/F are designed to challenge J-10C/CE instead.

JAS-39 E/F = High End Light-weight class

Sensor systems in F-15EX are all state-of-the-art and sensor-fused much like in true 5th generation jet fighters.

Now kindly explain to us mere mortals that how J-20 tech is way up there that it's not even close (vs. F-15EX). Only a misinformed troll can come up with a statement like this.

J-20 is not exactly top secret but well-documented in Public domain. It is the face of PLAAF in modern times and receives much attention accordingly. Even a novice like me can point out to you which sensor systems and technologies are onboard. There are classified aspects of these technologies (obviously) but same is true for many of the latest machines.

As for the MiG-15 vs. Sabre-86 kill ratio, check relevant reports of RAND for updated view in this regard.

In modern warfare, classic jet fighter vs. jet fighter clashes are less likely. Assuming that the belligerents are well-equipped and prepared; it will be a clash of an eco-system with another eco-system with numerous platforms involved from either camp. This would be a signal dense and jamming-intensive battlespace, and in this type of environment, it is possible that the pilots on F-15EX find it easier to kill the likes of J-20 than on other platforms.

“I believe this is the most lethal and survivable jet that's on the market today and I say that because the battlespace effects that this airplane can provide are on par or exceed what you can do with an LO [low observable] platform that has restrictions. This jet has 30,000 lb of things we can put on the wings and the fuselage,” adds Giese. “No one’s going to match that. Then if you marry that up with the radar and the EW system, I would argue — even as a guy that flew the F-22 for 12 years — that this platform produces battlespace effects — which is what the commanders care about — that are equal or better than what an LO platform can do, that’s based on power, size, payload, and capacity.”

The two are basically at the same level, and if anything, Rafale has much less upgrade potential due to its rather small nose-area which could not accommodate high power and large radius radar

1. EF2000 Positioning error, it's a interceptor. Do the British need a interceptor?
2. Except for supersonic performance, it is not good in other aspects.
3. EF2000's radar is a mechanical scanning flat-panel radar, and it is only 750mm, which is even smaller than the AWG9 of the F14.
4. Its canard wing is too far away, and its low altitude mobility must be bad. If at low altitude and low speed, the EF2000 is equivalent to a delta wing fighter.
5. In order to improve the maneuverability at high angles of attack, the EF2000 added a winglet, which was a failed operation of phantom 2000 in the 1970s.
6. Modern 4G aircraft, except for early Russian fighters, have integrated anti-jamming devices into the body, and only EF2000 use anti-jamming silos. Even the early Russian Su27 only hung interference hoists, only EF2000 used pods to drag bait.

I don't mention that EF2000 didn't have money to buy aircraft guns. Finally, it put a piece of cement in the plane.
