ISLAMABAD: Protesting against last year’s alleged vote rigging, dozens of workers of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) breached security cordon and entered Islamabad’s Red Zone, SAMAA reported Friday.
PTI’s Additional Secretary General, Saifullah Niazi, and central spokesperson Shireen Mazari were leading the workers who marched from central party office in Islamabad to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) headquarters located in the Red Zone.
Carrying placards and party flags, participants of the PTI rally breached security cordon and managed to reach NADRA office, crossing barbed wires and concrete barrios placed to secure the sensitive area.
Scuffles between club-bearing policemen and PTI workers were also witnessed during the chaos.
Police resorted to baton-charge but failed to disperse the charged mob as protest demonstration went on. - SAMAA
