PTI releases video statement after Nawaz Sharif’s ouster as PML-N head
In a video message, PTI spokesman Fawad Chaudhry has hailed the Supreme Court ruling in Election Act case as historic and urged the ruing Nawaz Sharif to accept the decision.
The video message came shortly after a three-judge Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar barred Nawaz Sharif from heading the PML-N.
“A disqualified person cannot become the head of a political party under Article 62 and 63 of the Constitution,” the court ruled.
The apex court also declared null and void all the decisions taken by Nawaz Sharif following his disqualification on July 28, 2017. The court also cancelled the tickets awarded by Nawaz Sharif to Senate’s aspirants as PML-N’s president.
ِIn addition, the Supreme Court directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to remove Nawaz Sharif’s name as PML-N President. – SAMAA
