ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has started contacting dissident members of other political parties in light of present political situation in the country, Dunya News reported.

Reportedly, many members from Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) have given green signal to join the PTI.

The sources said that this development from PTI has come in the wake of upcoming local body election in Punjab, anticipated decisions from election tribunals and judicial commission probing alleged election fraud, and overall prevailing political uncertainty.

PTI chairman Imran Khan has even assigned responsibilities regarding Central Punjab to his advisors. Sources said that former State Minister Sumsam Bukhari, former provincial minister Ashraf Sohna, former state minister Tariq Anis and several PPP leaders including two former lawmakers have given green signal to join PTI soon.

The sources further told that a large number of political leaders are expected to join PTI from Lahore city as well.

LAHORE: Five key leaders of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) from Punjab have decided to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) after evolving differences with the party leadership, sources said early on Tuesday.

Sources told Geo News that former federal minister Nazar Muhammad Gondal, former provincial minister and president of PPP’s Okara chapter, Asharf Khan Sohna, former state minister Samsam Bukhari, former MNA from Narowal Chaudhry Tariq Anees and PPP ticket-holder from Okara Arif Lashari have decided to part ways with the party.

The decision was taken after the party leadership failed in addressing reservations of the said leaders, they added.

Sources further said the PPP leaders are likely to formally announce their decision of joining the PTI ranks in a meeting with the party chief Imran Khan in Islamabad later today.

No matter how clean, these are still 'traditional' politicians who have fed on and favor the status quo. Their survival is in keeping the system as is, with minor tweaks here and there. Imran Khan doesn't get that or maybe he does but doesn't care. In either case, it's a shame to see PTI going this route time and again.
