PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)-led provincial government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has surpassed the previous ANP-headed provincial government in getting foreign contribution for its Annual Development Programme for the year 2013-14.

Though the PTI chief Imran Khan recently accused the country’s leading media organization of getting foreign contribution for telecasting various programmes, the majority of projects of the provincial government run by his party are receiving money from foreign donors, including those from the United States.

As per the official record available with The News, the PTI-led provincial government has surpassed the previous government in getting the foreign aid. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was receiving Rs35,000 million foreign contribution for the Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2013-14. The allocations were Rs23,258 million, Rs16,112 million and Rs9,240 million during the rule of the previous ANP-PPP coalition government for the years 2012-13, 2011-12 and 2010-11, respectively.

As per the documents, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) provided Rs1,304.72 million to the present provincial government, the US Agency for International Development (USAID) Rs1,315 million, Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) Rs237.25 million, Department for International Development (DFID)-UK Rs14,861.13 million, European Union (EU) Rs5,069.66 million, GIZ (Germany) Rs400 million, Italian Debt Swap Rs147 million, Japan Rs3,624.40 million, KFW (Germany) Rs1,130.05 million, Multi-Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) Rs2,804.28 million, International Narcotics Law Enforcement Agency (US) Rs1,972.18, Norway Rs446 million, Swiss Development Council Rs341 million, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Rs875.88 million and World Bank Rs450 million.

The foreign funds were given to projects in various sectors including agriculture, water supply and sanitation, elementary and secondary education but mostly for rehabilitation of schools in the militancy and flood-affected areas, finance, health, forestry, home, industries, law, regional development, rural development, roads, social welfare, urban development and water.

According to the documents, the previous government had utilised 72 percent of the foreign contribution in 2010-11, 35.8 percent in 2011-12 and 33.9 percent in 2012-13. The utilisation of the funds by the PTI-led provincial government was not given in the record. However, the slow development work undertaken by the present government showed that the fund utilisation could turn out to be less compared to the performance of the previous government.

Well, this article is about "PTI govt surpasses previous rulers in getting foreign funds"

Whats the relation of foreign aid/funds and performance, which I might have missed perchance in this article?

PTI must focus on KPK governance specially Education, Health sectors and Local Government System .

how is this not performance indicator, how do you measure performance, isn't how efficiently funds getting utilized measured as performance, everything requires funding, even a small action so i think foreign funds which make a large chuck of KPK's budget indicates PTI's performance IMO

This idiot gets banned and unbanned what is going on why can't he be banned once and for all.

Before finger pointing KPK-PTI...mqm should show how much work has it done in Sindh in its long term tenure of 10+ years every now and than you hear car, raksha, bus and people fell in holes this is just one simple example the most bank robberies took place during mqm reign of 5+ Years just building few bridges. mqm supporters should also know that Federal Gov has withheld KPK's huge pile of money under various false pretexts.
