This is the biggest news since Turkey shot down Sukhoi. China wins a major victory by destroying USA ally Prime Minister Nguyen Tang Dong. Thanks to our coercive humiliation of Viets with Platform 981, now VCP chooses to live peacefully with China rather than invite another brutal invasion and massacre like 1979. Now we can turn our full attention to spanking Taiwan and any other nation who may try to interfere in our military plans for Taiwan.

Let me tell you an inconvenient truth for Chinese members interested in this: the defeat of Nguyen Tan Dung is a defeat for China. And after a meeting with Xi last year, they both made an agreement, with good loan deals and aids. And at the conclusion of that meeting, Xi, for the first time in history, happily invited him for a state visit to China, which Nguyen Tan Dung then happily accepted.

In other words, Xi had managed to buy him out with soft loans and aids, and who knows what else they had agreed to behind their closed doors meeting. It was looking as though Xi had managed to convince Dung to become a pro-China puppet. Nguyen Tan Dung then received criticism and suspicions for that but he still defended his reorientation towards China:

On Tuesday, National Assembly member Truong Trong Nghia challenged the prime minister about Vietnam's economic dependence on China, and said Vietnam should not receive loans or aid from China, saying that makes it harder to negotiate with China over territorial disputes.

Vietnam PM Defends China Policy

Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has defended his government's policy toward China, following legislative concerns about relations with Beijing.

Speaking to legislators in a nationally televised broadcast Wednesday, Dung said Hanoi “will do its utmost to strengthen its friendship and cooperation with China,” but added that the Southeast Asian country will “defend its territorial sovereignty” in the South China Sea.

“Our consistent policies and stances have been repeated many times," he said. "We sincerely do our best to bolster mutual friendly ties and cooperation with China in all fields,...”

...He spoke a day after lawmakers had questioned him about Vietnam’s close relations with China, including the issues of receiving aid and getting preferential loans from its northern neighbor.

Vietnamese Lawmakers Grill PM Over China Aid

Vietnamese lawmakers questioned Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung on Tuesday about Vietnam’s relations with China, including the issues of receiving aid and getting preferential loans from its northern neighbor.

In a question-and-answer session with Dung, broadcast live on state-run TV, lawmaker Truong Trong Nghia from Ho Chi Minh City said Vietnam’s economy tends to rely heavily on China “in many areas,” which threatens “Vietnam’s economic sovereignty.”

“Our voters ask us not to borrow loans from China at this time as Beijing has disputes [over the South China Sea] with Vietnam, invades Vietnamese territory and threatens to do more,” Nghia said as Dung looked on.

Nghia said that practice would put Vietnam in a difficult situation, if it decides to bring China to the international arbitration tribunal in the future.

Nghia’s questioning comes two weeks after one of Vietnam's largest financial institutions said it received $200 million in a five-year credit deal from the China Development Bank during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to Hanoi.

Yeah, Dung is just pragmatic and pro-money, he was the one that ease the custom check and quality control for Chinese import back in 2009, and he was the one who sign and implement Bauxite project too despite the majority vote against it, Dung and his camp just know how to use mass media and public opinion to paint and sell his image, but not every people buy it. And I do not think Trong is a pro-China. Because if he was pro-China he must be gained something. He was not the kind of person who is avaricious [none of his family or relative are princeling unlike 'Dung' and he's not so hunger for money just see past 5 years] so paint image of pro-China, only leave a bad reputation. However he was not the man wanted to use tougher diplomacy with China or openly criticized China like Dung did.

It is oversimplified to label one camp pro-China or Pro-West, it is more like fight between Government and Party as Party seems to lose too much power to the Government side year to year and their command seem meaningless to Govt. Recently align with West give Dung many opportunity so it is understandable he push for reform ( he was the one brought up with SOEs ideas and want to develop it similar to Chaebol)

What do you think of the new Prime Minister,Nguyen Xuan Phuc- he seems like Dung, Vu Duc Dam seem better don't know why he was not in the Politburo. Best thing is Pham Binh Minh this time in the Politburo though. Hoang Trung Hai-Chinese origin/descent also in Politburo this time and hold city manager post

His son in-law, whose father was working for the S Viet government before he fled to the states after the S Viet government was overthrown, is the man behind the introduction of the following fast food chain to the viet communists:

His (Nguyen TD's) daughter controls a venture capitalists firm and because of the background of her husband (pictured in red shirt above), you can only expect the business connections between usa and viet communists to be stronger
