The largest single-day extradition in history of Mexico has taken place when the country extradited 29 prominent drug gang leaders to the United States Rafael, Caro Quintero a prominent drug lord who was linked to the 1985 death of US DEA agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, was transferred as part of this historic move.
Extradition is viewed as a major show of cooperation between the United States and Mexico, especially in light of the pressure from the Trump administration promised tariffs.

The result of strenuous diplomatic efforts between the United States and Mexico is the extradition of Caro Quintero and other cartel leaders. Threatening to impose a 25% tariff on all Mexican imports if these requests were not satisfied, President Donald Trump had been pressuring Mexico to take firm action against drug gangs, illegal immigration and fentanyl manufacture.

Due to this pressure, senior Mexican officials traveled to Washington and had talks with Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other U.S. counterparts. Mexico's desire to show its commitment to fighting organized crime and avoiding economic sanctions was reflected in the extraditions, which were made possible by evading the formalities of the America-Mexico extradition pact.

The extradited individuals include members of five out of six Mexican cartels recently designated as "foreign terrorist organizations" by the Trump administration, Among those sent to the U.S are leaders of the Los Zetas cartel, Miguel Treviño Morales and his brother Omar Treviño Morales, known as Z-40 and Z-42.

U.S Department of Justice has made it clear that these people will be prosecuted to the greatest extent of the law possibly facing charges of terrorism, drug trafficking and killing.

The extradition of Caro Quintero who has been on the FBI's most-wanted list for decades is especially noteworthy because it provides DEA Agent Camarena family with closure and represents the United States dedication to seeking justice for crimes against its law enforcement officers. This move ushers in a new era of security cooperation between the United States and Mexico as the two nations collaborate to dismantle significant drug trafficking networks.
