Risaldar Nadir Khan, 9th Bengal Lancers

Nadir Khan is depicted in uniform and his badges include: the Jubilee medal; Egypt 1882-9; Indian General Service 1854-94; and the Kabul to Kandahar Star. He had been promoted Risaldar in 1894. He was one of the soldiers in the Indian contingent which came to England for the Diamond Jubilee.

Risaldar Anoop Singh, Sirdar Bahadur, 11th Bengal Lancers Signed and dated 1877

Anoop Singh was among Indian Orderly Officers to the Prince of Wales, Queen Victoria’s eldest son. They had come back to England in his entourage. Anoop Singh is depicted in uniform and his medals include those for the Punjab campaign, China 1857-60 and the Indian Mutiny, and the Indian Order of Merit. The painting was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1877.
