Pralay : New missile in development

It would have to be significantly larger than a Saturn V to do what you are proposing :P

A 200 MT bomb would not be light, lets put it that way hehe.

I think with modern materials and technology it can be fitted in much smaller package. But again, for "Pralay" 200MT+15000 km range is minimum requirement :P

If India could design a 200Kt Thermonuclear H-bomb, it could also design 200MT bomb too as basic science and engineering is same for both bombs. Only thing that happens with increasing yield is that bombs become bulky. Tsara Bomba could not be fitted on any aircraft, and it was flown on a modified Tu-95V which had its bomb-bay doors removed.

A 200MT bomb would needed to be hauled by 18 wheeler truck.

A 200 MT bomb would also be an awfully inefficient (and risky) use of tritium/Li-6...better to go for multiple 1 MT warheads instead....or even just scale up the number of 200 kt warheads.

Not by much. Explosive velocity development has not grown by the magnitudes needed for a much smaller package.....plus you need the physical amount of fusion source and the tamper casing for it.

This missile would have to be extraordinarily huge and more of a liability than deterrence :P

Yes, and that bomb would not cause as much destruction a 10 one megaton bombs, as damage per capita material used in N-bombs reduce exponentially with increasing yield.

A 5 MT+ bomb is a device to scare, rather than of potential use.

Any nuke is device to scare

Assumption going by the trends.
You are confusing Shourya with Surya... Shourya is our canister launched missile with 1000kg warhead. 700-800km. Tactical missile Surface to surface at hypersonic speed. Which is derivative of K15.

Surya is intercontinental ballistic missile under development (Black project) 11-12000km range.

Pralay I guess Fusion between Shourya structural integrity and Bramose technical parameters. MAY BE RANGED INCREASED VARIANT OF BRAMOSE... As u can see the confidence of our scientists when they call a missile "PRALAY" :D

May be :
More or less Extended ranged bramos series with our own modification.

Anti ship /S2S role with 180 kilo warhead with 1700-1900 km range 700-1000km with 1 tone.

Probably highly road mobile with constrained launch system.
Thrust vector for intense evasive capabilities

????

Its not a cruise missile. It might a quasi ballistic missile like Shourya with 1500-200 km range. All composite with MEMS, IRNSS, new seekers and cheap.

Dual use can be against targeting China in Tibet!

200 MT? Thats like 4 times the Tsar Bomba. :o:

200 kt is as far as India can scale up what she has in arsenal right now.

We designed 200 kt before 1998 and India moved way ahead after that in last two decades. I know we do not need it but we can develop 100 MT hydrogen bomb.

Even with our current Shourya we can expand range to 1700-1800 with 180 Kilo warhead. This missile could be advanced shorter from of Agni 4. Light composites for larger war head with self evasive capabilities.

@Water Car Engineer @PARIKRAMA
Your thoughts on present Dhanush and Anti Ship Ballistic Missile role... any truth to it ?

Last time when it was tested news portals reported it as multirole missile capable of hitting targets at land and at sea .

Maybe, what ever the case, a completely new design is being developed.

The long range anti-ship missile is on the drawing board, and we are confident that in about six years we would be able to get it ready. The long range anti-ship missile is going to be a ballistic missile with a seeker which can hit ships at long range. (2014)

He mentioned it was around 2000km in range.

It's a stretch, but I have a feeling this is the same program.

As mention by Water, this might be a 2000 km range anti-ship missile in the line of Shourya. Almost same size, just 1 mtr smaller.

So, it seems India is taking Chinese route of DF-21D & DF-26, if true then it validates the capability China have now. :)

It is a useful added hedge for attempting to pick off lone naval targets...it has limited utility against blue water carrier groups.
