POTD: FNH SCARL In Force After Brussels Failed Attack

For #FNFriday here are some Belgian SCARs being used. Just last Tuesday days ago Brussels, the capital of Belgium, was attacked by a suicide bomber. Luckily he sucked at his job. The Belgian Army was seen patrolling the area after the bomber had been neutralized. You can see they were primarily armed with FNH SCARL. Im not sure if these are considered MK16 like the ones the US uses. The MK16 has a shorter barrel.

From the photos, some of the soldiers are using Trijicon Acogs with RMRs mounted ontop. However there are a few, like the soldiers below wearing berets, are using what appears to be a far forward mounted red dot. Possibly an Aimpoint CompM4.

I don't understand why Belgium is targeted ? its a small country with not much involvement in International War on terror ?

probably the same reason why it was invaded twice in both World War, strategic importance.

Belgium is home to NATO headquarter, and home to many EU, NATO structure which these middle eastern group despised.

Also Belgium is quite easy to get in, with a lax security, making it a prime target for terrorist attack

This could be the main reason, Attacking Belgium by these group is somehow try to symbolize that they are attacking NATO .. but i never know getting into belgium was easy

Yes, it was.

It's quite easy to get a visa to Belgium (and probably easier to get one to former Eastern European EU bloc and move to Belgium) The Military is not as well-complimented as their neighbours (France, Holland and Germany) making it quite easy to break into and reek havocs.

Hmm i have a cousin in Belgium but they move to UK few years ago, never had a chance to talk to them about how it is there .. but i agree Belgium forces may not be as well trained as their neighbors
