Hatred Revealed, Instantly Provokes Controversy - News

By Craig Snow, 2 days, 10 hrs ago

An indie game called Hatred was revealed earlier today. Currently being developed by a new indie studio called Destructive Creations, Hatred is an isometric shooter in which you played as a mass murderer - a cold-blooded antagonist who simply hates humanity and goes on a genocidal crusade, killing anyone and anything he sees:

"I just fu*kin’ hate this world. And the human worms feasting on its corpus. My whole life is just cold, bitter hatred. And I always wanted to die violently. This is the time of vengeance and no life is worth saving. And I will put in the grave as many as I can. It’s time for me to kill. And it’s time for me to die. My genocide crusade begins here."

The title has already courted controversy, perhaps exceeding Destructive Creations wildest dreams in terms of publicity, from articles on mainstream gaming sites lining up to condemn it to Epic Games insisting the developer removes its Unreal Engine logo from the trailer, stating:

"Unreal Engine 4 is available to the general public for use ‘for any lawful purpose,’ and we explicitly don’t exert any sort of creative control or censorship over projects. However, the video is using the trademarked Unreal Engine 4 logo without permission from Epic, and we’ve asked for the removal of our logo from all marketing associated with this product."

You can check out the game's debut trailer below and draw your own conclusions:

First person shooters are popular in the US, not so much in Japan. We Japanese are more into the thriller games focused on 3rd person view. Resident evil, Silent Hill and The Evil Within is an example.

.
It's a fact that humans just love violence, bloodshed and cannot live without it ,and these traits become apparent right from the beginning. Ever wondered why often, a kid's favorite toy is a gun? Ever wondered why games like GTA and Call of Duty are so popular. No one buys games where you have to go around planting flowers and kissing people on the cheek. People find violence entertaining and these games make a lot of top $ because of that. I still remember the feeling of ownage after throwing a grenade on a bunch of niggas in gta . This has nothing to do with country ,all people are like this.

True, buddy.

For me, I like the old style RPG or strategy games like: Starcraft, Command Conquer Generals, Rise of Nations, Age of Empires I,II, III. :P

That trailer for Japanese game was highly entertaining.Though I doubt I will enjoy playing it.

You mean RTS ?
RTS as a genre is dying, you should try MOBAs like Dota which came out from ashes of RTS games like warcraft.

.
Poland is a very desperate county, this game shows it. Thats why so many flee to western europe

;)

My favorite game (i just got this game this weekend):

The Evil Within

.
I feel that the creators of the game were either unsatisfied or disappointed with GTA despite that in the game you can kill civilians, but not in such ways as Hatred. I also feel that the creator saw FPS games like CoD and Battlefield as "bland" when it comes to killing because you can only kill military personnel, militia gangs and terrorists but not civilians save for that infamous mission in CoD: Modern Warfare 2.

Other than those, this game caters people who have or holds misanthropic views but since it was made by people from Poland, which are known to be "nationalistic" - as far as TV tropes describes them, which is kind of interesting considering that Pinoy gamers are not much different from Polish gamers
.
As for Japan and Korea, it seems their games are catering fanboys of other genre...

Hmm, never thought of it though I get the feeling that I "hang out" with the other side of Japanese fandom who prefers mostly-female dominated J-RPGs and Visual Novels as I play said games including, uhm... "eroge" genre games aside from FPS games and a few RTS games.

You can find genres of any kind from any nation. Violence from Russia, RPGs from Japan, erotic simulations from the US, no nation is solely responsible for one genre and no nation is more representative of one genre than any other. Violence, sexuality, adventurism, fantasy, SCIENCE!!! fiction (you are compelled to scream SCIENCE, do not fight it), each are global and no nation can claim true ownership over one. In short no, Poland's new video game is not representative of the nation.
