TEHRAN, Jun. 27 (MNA) – Police forces of Sistan and Baluchestan have confiscated over 1.4 tons of illicit drugs in Saravan County, said the police chief on Saturday.

Second Brigadier General Mohammad Ghanbari, the Police Chief of Sistan and Baluchestan made the announcement, saying that following the intelligence activities, the anti-narcotics police forces of Saravan county have identified and dismantled a drug-trafficking band who had intended to transfer a big consignments of narcotics to the central parts of Iran from eastern borders.

In the operation carried out in Saravan, the police forces entered an armed conflict with the smugglers, during which they managed to bust 1,408 kilograms of illicit drugs and a number of rifles and ammunition, he added.

The busted consignment consisted of 1,336 kg of opium, 50 kg of hashish, 300 g of crystal, 100 g of heroin, and 20 kg of other kinds of drugs, he said.

Three smugglers have been arrested and one of them was killed during the operation, according to the police chief.

The Islamic Republic has been actively fighting drug-trafficking over the past three decades, despite its high economic and human costs. The war on drug trade originating from Afghanistan has claimed the lives of nearly 4,000 Iranian police officers over the past four decades. The country has spent more than hundreds of millions of dollars on sealing its borders and preventing the transit of narcotics destined for European, Arab, and Central Asian countries.

The issue of drugs is a global scourge and there is the need for wide-scale cooperation at the international level so as to tackle this problem. Therefore, the Islamic Republic of Iran has adopted an interactive approach with the global community concerning the issue of drugs and has virtually indicated that it spares no efforts in enhancing cooperation with other countries and international organizations in the campaign against illicit drugs.

On this basis, Iran has always voiced its resolve for countering illicit drugs and reducing its harms at the global level. Iran's performance in countering drug trafficking has been effective in maintaining the security of different regions of the globe.

a chunk of this is brought into Pakistan by Militant groups to fund their terrorist activities, more of this is sent off to GCC mainly to Oman & UAE.
I have been reviewing reports of Narcotic seizures by Iranian authorities in recent times, many of them were linked to terrorist groups in Pakistan, so kudos to the authorities for busting up the rings

Interestingly it's probably more than yearly find of many European countries combined and saravan is not even the main route of trafficking such drugs

On a sad note that damn traitor rouhani even destroyed our crystal industry it was not long ago we were one of the main exporter of chemical drugs but now we had to import them.
Very sad indeed when you see one industry destroyed for good by that treasonous government.

So ur implying that organized terrorist groups still ecist in Pakistan?? And that they use international drug smuggling to fund their activities. Do u have any proof of this or just towing the iranian and indian line??
The reality is 180 degrees opposite. Drug traffickers in Afghanistan and iran used gawadar and other routes to smuggle drugs to ME. Large drug and human smugglers are iranian and Afghanistanis. The money is then routed to iran and Afghanistan. Its understandable that IRGC ises smuggling to earn money because of sanctions. Whats not understandable is you blaming Pakistan of having terrorists that too so strong that they do international smuggling to fund themselves.

a nexus of Drug Cartels / Contrabands Traffickers & Terrorists exist on both side of the border. Civies on both side of the border are involved. Border Patrol on both side of the border turn a blind eye to these activities is because as you mentioned they generate funds through it to fill their pockets and on Iranian side, pockets of the higher ups.
Iran supports such trafficking of 'Contrabands' for financial reasons & owing to the sanctions. This is one of the reason you find Iranian cement, Concrete, marble & Petroleum products in southern region of Pakistan in abundance.

As far as Narcotics is concerned then the story remains the same, population in eastern Iran (Sistan-Balochistan) brings in the drugs from Afghanistan and bring it to the border region along Pakistan & coastal areas. Through here these drugs are passed on the Organized groups as well as Terrorists who transport it to Pakistan.

In May, a Baloch youth from Turbat identified as a smuggler was shot dead by FC as he did not stop at the Security Check Point. upon inspection drugs along with other items were recovered from his vehicle.

I hope this makes things clear for you to understand. I read news from both side of the border to monitor the situation & keep myself updated.
And Not all drugs are smuggled through Gawadar - Makran region, In last 2 months, UAE & Oman authorities caught all lot of drug smugglers hailing out of Sistan

In ur first post u were implying that terrorists in Pakistan use that for funding which is wrong. Now ur saying both sides n bla bla.
Yes there are smugglers in Pakistan, who doznt want easy money but there are no organized terrorist structure anymore. Neither its like past where drug trade from Afghanistan ended up funding these groups.
On the other hand, in iran, the smugglers are supported by IRGC and actually work for the regime. They smuggle both drugs and items of daily use and fuel. They catch few afghans and Pakistani taking advantage of the smuggling spree going on and show as if they are stopping smuggling. If they were serious is stopping smuggling, they wont allow hordes of traders scouring the border areas to sell stuff. The border is not fully secure and the smugglers enjoy. So instead of blaming Pakistan, u should blame the mullah regime that has unleashed smugglers and destroying Pakistan economy.

And my statement hasn't change, i have already said that terrorists are involved in channeling drugs from Iran to Pakistan. These groups need it for their survival & to fund their activities, make living for their families. Not everything gets to be provided by RAW. as far as 'hordes' getting pass through the border is concerned then check with Levies on our side of the border who allow such cross border movement for a price....
and if you think am iran sympathizer or a shia then let me inform you, your mistaken. Just because i don't agree with their your narrative doesn't make pro-shia or pro-iran
