PMLN defeated in Punjab as Hassan Askari takes oath as interim CM

Professor Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi took oath as the Punjab caretaker chief minister in a ceremony held in Lahore on Friday.

Governor Punjab Rafique Rajwana administered oath to Dr Askari, whose name for the provincial caretaker role was finalised by the Election Commission of Pakistan.

Dr Askari is a renowned political scientist and military analyst, currently working as professor emeritus of political science at the Punjab University.

A former visiting professor of Pakistan Studies at the Columbia University from 1996 to 1999, Prof Askari has also served as Allama Iqbal Professor at Heidelberg University, Germany, from 1988 to 1991.


He has a number of publications, including more than 1,800 op-eds and comment pieces in domestic and international newspapers and magazines and has spent over 35 years teaching and supervising research at the post-graduate level. The books include ‘Military, State and Society in Pakistan’ and ‘The military and Politics in Pakistan: 1947 – 1997’.

The oath-taking ceremony of Balochistan caretaker CM Alauddin Marri is scheduled to take place at 5pm today

PML-N will still take the majority of seats from Punjab, the ratio of won seats will definitely be less than in last elections, but they will still win in Punjab. For me, it would be more interesting to see how many seats PTI wins in urban Sindh, as they may be crucial in giving PTI the majority in the national assembly.

No, just wait and see now ...There candidates will be forced to quit or face charges by NAB..They are almost wiped out in South ..Only thing left is North and Centre where establishment will not let them take majority this time...Only fear i have is if PML-N raise slogans of undivided punjab and majority in center and north gets carried away with this
Hassan ASKARI is not without any purpose his views are well known Anti-PML -N and appointment indicated the trend in power centres.
Remember khosa withdraw after objection from PTI but hassan askari has not even after objection by PML-N...Wait for massive electricity problem in Punjab as already started,,,PML-N has done many wrongs this time and they have to face repercussions now
