Karachi: Former Chief Minister Sindh and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Leader Ghous Ali Shah met Sardar Uzair Baloch, leader of banned outfit Peoples Aman Committee (PAC), in Lyari, an old society of Karachi, sources said on Monday.
Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Leader Habib Jan Baloch and other representatives of Lyari were also present in the meeting.
The two leaders also discussed issues regarding the recent operation in Lyari and formation of an alliance of different parties in the city.
It is to be mentioned here that leaders of PAC and PPP in Lyari criticised PPP government in Sindh regarding the recent operations in Lyari, a strong hold of PPP.

ML-N vying to win over key Sindh leaders

* Former Sindh CM Liaquat Jatoi likely to join PML-N today

* Party divided over Mumtaz Bhutto

* Eyes Mehr family of Ghotki

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is desperate to make an alliance with Sindh-based nationalist parties and the party’s leadership has been deliberating upon portfolios for any leader who joins it.

In a significant development, PML-N President Nawaz Sharif will visit Sindh today (Monday) and meet former chief minister Liaquat Jatoi in his village Dadu. Jatoi is expected to join his old party, the PML-N, sources in the party told Daily Times on Sunday.

The PML-N, however, faces the most daunting task of making an alliance with Mumtaz Bhutto, chairman of the Sindh National Front and old guard of the PPP in the tenure of former prime minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

The PML-N has made several contacts with Mumtaz Bhutto in recent months and the party leadership seems excited to join hands with him. Even a proposal was floated in the party to make Bhutto chairman of the PML-N. The idea, however, did not receive support of the top PML-N leadership because of its “negative fallout” on the party, the sources said.

They said there were reservations in the party over Bhutto’s demands for joining the PML-N “as some of these demands are believed to be against the ideology of the party”.

Bhutto believes in confederation of Pakistan and he has been propagating this since his departure from the PPP for which he had served as chief minister of Sindh.

The sources said the PML-N leadership was divided on whether to welcome Bhutto in the party or not. “Some PML-N leaders favour Bhutto’s merger with the PML-N because they believe this will help the party make inroads into interior Sindh,” the sources added.

“On the other hand, a segment of the party believes that making alliance with Bhutto can damage the cause of the party and may provide a chance to political opponents to criticise the PML-N for welcoming those people whose credentials are not in consonance with the mainstream political nomenclature.”

Another factor that worries some of the PML-N leaders is Bhutto’s inability to dent the PPP despite him being a staunch rival of the ruling party. He had even lost elections to the PPP in his hometown Larkana.

The sources said the PML-N was also eyeing an alliance with the Mehar family of Ghotki, which had traditionally been ruling this city of Sindh.

Jatoi and the Mehr family’s Muhammad Ali Mehr remained loyal to former military president Gen (r) Pervez Musharraf.

In 2002, Jatoi was elected to the National Assembly and was inducted into the federal cabinet. Initially, he held the portfolio of minister of industries and was later on made the minister for water and power.

I think these big shots cheaters & looters , will cause a civil war for their own, self intersts, that's all they, can do?

.
Ozair jan baloch is not going any where, at the time of election he will be offered a ticket by PPP from lyari.

.
Some not clever friends trying to win lyari, this is their mistake!
Lyari is the castle, for PPP , & no one can take lyari, from PPP!
But powerplay, in lyari , will nt be tolerated!

Well, I don't think! Mr,zarDari will accept, anyones demand, against, its seasons politicians!
Criminals will be eliminated from lyari, no one can challenge PPP, criminals from lyari, will be cleared from lyari before elections.
