PML-N holds rallies to show thousands and thousands in street power
Rallies held in Islamabad, Bahawalpur, Khanewal with biggest show in Faisalabad
FAISALABAD/BAHAWALPUR/ KHANEWAL/ISLAMABAD: As political temperature rises in the country, the PML-N on Sunday showed the public support it enjoys by holding rallies in various cities, including Faisalabad, Islamabad, Bahawalpur and Khanewal.
The participants vowed to strengthen democracy and expressed solidarity with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif against the anti-democratic forces.A rally in Faisalabad was attended by thousands of people, as small rallies from various areas - including Samundri, Jaranwala, Tandlianwala and Chak Jhumra gathered at Zila Council Chowk from where it marched toward the historic Clock Tower.
Rana Sanaullah, former provincial minister, led the rally along with provincial minister Khalid Tahir Sindhu and lawmakers Haji Akram Ansari, Mian Abdul Manan, Rana Afzal Khan, Rajab Ali Khan Baloch, Shahbaz Babar, Nawaz Malik, Sheikh Ejaz Ahmed, Haji Khalid Saeed, Arif Gill and Jafar Ali Hocha.
A large number of people from the business community were also among the marchers. Citizens and shopkeepers established special camps to welcome the participants of the rally.In his address, Rana Sana said the people of Faisalabad had once again reposed
confidence in democracy, supremacy of the Constitution and the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

Rana Sana said 20 million people were with the elected prime minister and anyone demanding his resignation would be rejected by them. He said the government was bound to protect democracy and Constitution in addition to discouraging the mob culture.
“One so-called religious leader and an insane political opportunist are pressing unconstitutional and anti-state demands by urging the people for civil disobedience. However, people have rejected the demand.”
He added that their appeal for sending money through “Hundi” or withdrawing money from banks had also been rejected by the people. The people had virtually disassociated from the PTI and the PAT.
In Islamabad, PML-N workers and activists on Sunday evening staged a rally at Aabpara Chowk to express solidarity with the prime minister and the party leadership, denouncing the sit-ins of the Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Awami Tehrik (PAT).
Led by Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, MNA from NA-49, the rally was participated by the party workers from different parts of the federal capital. They were carrying party flags and portraits of the prime minister.
Dr Tariq Fazal said all the political parties sitting inside the parliament were united on the continuation of democracy and they had urged the prime minister not to resign.He asked the PTI and PAT leadership to call off their sit-in and talk to the government in a democratic way.
Meanwhile, hundreds of workers and activists of the PML-N and its youth wing staged a pro-Nawaz Sharif rally in Bahawalpur on Sunday evening. Minister of State for Education, Training and Interior Engineer Baleeghur Rehman and Punjab Minister for Cooperatives Malik Muhammad Iqbal Channar led the rally.
The rally started from the house of Engineer Baleeghur Rehman. The participants rounded the city roads and reached Bindra Pulli, where Malik Iqbal Channar, MNA Parveen Masood Bhatti, former MNA Saud Majeed and other PML-N leaders joined the rally.The participants were holding the posters of the PML-N and Nawaz Sharif. People from all walks of life, particularly traders, joined the rally.The participants raised slogans in favour of the prime minister and against PTI Chairman Imran Khan.
Many participants were carrying placards inscribed with slogans against Imran. The JUI-F and the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat activists also joined the rally.In Khanewal, the PML-N took out a rally in support of democracy and to show the party’s strength to the PTI and the PAT.
The PML-N leaders, including former minister Irfan Daha, MNA Muhammad Khan Daha, MPA Nishat Daha, MPA Fazlur Rahman and MPA Karam Dad, led the rally, which was attended by hundreds of party workers.
The protesters were chanting slogans against the PTI chief Imran Khan and PAT chief Dr Tahirul Qadri. They were also chanting slogans in favour of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
Addressing the rally, MNA Muhammad Khan Daha and others said: “Our workers are forcing us to allow them to block roads to counter the Azadi and Inqilab marches in Islamabad, but we have strictly asked them to remain peaceful.”They said people had rejected unconstitutional and unjustified demands of Imran Khan and Tahirul Qadri and the government would complete its tenure.
