ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf on Tuesday said that China had extended significant support to Pakistan in various energy projects and invited the China Electrical Equipment Group to invest in solar energy sector.
The Prime Minister stated this while talking to Jia Yangang, President China Electrical Equipment Group (CEEG), who called on him here and discussed cooperation in the energy sector.
The Prime Minister welcomed Jia Yangang and his delegation and appreciated his keenness to visit Pakistan as a follow up of his meeting with the President of Pakistan last year.
The Prime Minister said that Pakistan and China enjoy all weather friendship and the two countries have cooperation in all sectors of economy.
The Prime Minister stated that China has extended significant support to Pakistan in energy sector in the shape of projects like Nandi Pur Power Plant, Neelum Jhelum Hydropower project, Guddu Power Plant etc. He appreciated the efforts of Jia Yangang to help in tapping vast potential in the solar energy sector in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister assured that his government would facilitate and support investment in the solar energy sector. He invited the Chinese Company to start project in the shortest possible time. "You have the capability and we have the need," the Prime Minister told Jia Yangang.
The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Water & Power to complete all formalities on fast track basis in consultation with the CEEG, China so that they launch their project in the shortest time frame.
Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf invited the Chinese company to invest in Water Pumping System (tube well) on solar energy to boost agriculture in Balochistan and other areas of Pakistan.
Jia Yangang apprised the Prime Minister that his company is sharing information with its partners companies in Pakistan to develop projects in the solar energy sector to produce energy.
The Prime Minister asked the Chinese company to immediately open its office in Pakistan and suggest cost effective solutions in the water pumping system (Tube wells) to benefit farmers in Pakistan.
Ch. Ahmed Mukhtar, Minister for Water and Power, Secretary Ministry of Water and Power and Secretary BOI also attended the meeting.
