PM inaugurates Ramu Infantry Division today
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate the 10 Infantry Division of Bangladesh Army at Ramu of Cox’s Bazar today as part of the plan to implement the Forces Goal by 2030. The new division will help ensure security in the south eastern areas, which have a total of 500-km-long unguarded border with neighbouring Myanmar. This new one is the ninth infantry division of the country. The other infantry divisions are: 9 Infantry Division in Savar, 24 Infantry Division in Chittagong, 11 Infantry Division in Bogra, 33 Infantry Division in Comilla, 17 Infantry Division in Sylhet, 66 Infantry Division in Rangpur, 55 Infantry Division in Jessore and 11 Infantry Division in Ghatail. The Artillery Brigade, Infantry Brigade, Field Regiment Artillery, East Bengal Regiment and Bangladesh Infantry Regiment have already been set up under the new division of the Bangladesh Army. The government has appointed Maj Gen Ataul Hakim Sarwar Hassan as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) to conduct the new 10 Infantry Division.
