PM congratulates his team as China approves 14 power projects of 10,400 MW

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday congratulated his energy and economic team on obtaining approval of the Chinese government for putting 14 power projects which would generate 10,400 MW electricity.

The projects include Port Qasim (coal-fired) 1320 MW, Sukki Kanari (Hydropower) 870 MW, Sahiwal (coal-fired) 1320 MW, Engro Thar

(Coal Fired- Mining of Block 2) 660 MW, Muzafargarh (coal-fired) 1320 MW, Gwadar (Coal fired) 300 MW, Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park (Cholistan) 1000 MW, United Energy (Wind power, Karachi) 100 MW, Dawood (wind power, Karachi) 50 MW, Sachal (wind power) 50 MW, Sunnec (wind power) 50 MW, Rahimyar Khan (coal-fired) 1320 MW, SSRL Thar (coal-fired) 1320 MW and Karot (hydropower) 720 MW.

The projects will be started immediately and put into operation by the year 2017-2018. In addition, there are few other power generation projects totalling to 6445 MW which would be completed in the second phase on fast track basis.

The Prime Minister said this gesture of the Chinese government manifests the deep cordial relations it has with Pakistan as well as shows the confidence of the international community in the policies of government.

He expressed satisfaction that the MoUs Pakistan had signed with China in the recent past were now being translated into on- ground projects.

He expressed confidence that this massive addition to the power sector of the country would prove immensely beneficial in overcoming electricity shortage.

Nawaz Sharif said this is part of the government's energy roadmap which aimed at ensuring provision of cost effective electricity to the masses.

He said the government's desire and focus was on removing unemployment, eliminating power shortage and bringing economic prosperity and we will stay the course.

Nawaz Sharif seems to be doing pretty well...

NS doing pretty bad on the contrary...did you know this illegal PM is in debt for more than 2 decades and have not paid yet and many of his debts write off in his own tenure. According to Article 62-63 this man is not eligible by any means he has only been saved by corrupt judiciary.

Agya gand dalnay thread ma....Thank you very much for these useless rants...You guys should only do what you guys are best at i.e. dharnas,dancing and singing....btw here is another landmark achievement by PTI. @Aeronaut And then you guys wonder why people don't respect Think-Tanks....
