Planning Ministery to get Rs82b for next fiscal year

islamabad - The government has allocated major chunk of over Rs 82 billion for the Ministry of Planning Development and Reforms under the head of public sector development for next financial year 2014-2015, as the ministry has planned to initiate major programmes.

The developmental budget of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms has been enhanced to Rs 82.03 billion for the next fiscal year 2014-2015 from Rs 10.66 billion of the outgoing financial year 2013-2014, showing an increase of 670 percent. The documents revealed that government has allocated only Rs 799 million for ongoing projects of the Ministry of Planning, Development and Reforms and Rs 81.239 billion for the new schemes, starting from July 2014. The federal government has decided to launch new programme like keeping funds for achieving millennium development goals, launching a programme for human resource development through an endowment fund of Rs 1 billion and many others.

According to the documents available with The Nation, the government has kept Rs 12.5 billion for achieving millennium development goals in two to three years. Similarly, the government has also plan to launch Special Federal Development Programme worth of Rs 36 billion for the next financial year. Out of this amount Rs. 15 billion is allocated for Baluchistan, Rs 8 billion for Sindh, Rs 4 billion each for FATA and KPK, Rs 3 billion for AJK and Rs. 2 billion for Gilgit Baltistan.

Meanwhile, the government is also going to launch a programme for human resource development through an endowment fund of Rs1 billion. Similarly, the government has allocated Rs 130 million for China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Support Project. The government has allocated Rs 300 million for the construction of new campus of Pakistan Institute of Development Economics Islamabad, Rs 20 million for Establishment of Urban Planning and Policy and Management Unit and Rs 15 million for Integrated Infrastructure and Energy Planning and Management Unit for the next financial year 2014-2015. Similarly, the government has allocated Rs three billion rupees for Research/Workshop and Feasibility Studies and Rs 27.668 billion for Un-funded/under funded important projects during upcoming fiscal year.
