Performance of the PLAAF Sky Wing Air Demonstration Team (China Military Online/Li Hui)

Edited and translated by Yao Chun, People's Daily Online

The Chinese air force has founded two aerobatic display teams, the Sky Wing Air Demonstration Team and the Red Falcon Air Demonstration Team, at Chinese flight schools, and they will perform with the nearly 50-year-old August First Air Demonstration Team of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force on the first Aviation Open Day held in Changchun City in Jilin province on Sept. 1.

The Sky Wing Air Demonstration Team belongs to the Chinese Air Force Aviation University, which is the PLA’s unique degree-oriented academy dedicated primarily to training flight personnel and is also the alma mater of the astronautic hero Yang Liwei.

The Red Falcon Air Demonstration Team was found by the Third Flying College of the Chinese Air Force, which is the alma mater of the astronautic hero Zhai Zhigang and the China's first female fighter pilots.

The 16 pilots of the Sky Wing Air Demonstration Team are on-the-job instructors, with a flight time of more than 2,000 hours.

The Red Falcon Air Demonstration Team contains 18 pilots, three of whom are super-premium pilots and others are first-class pilots.

The Performance aircraft of all these three aerobatic teams are independently developed by China. Sky Wing Air Demonstration Team Aerobatic Team uses PT-6 primary trainer aircrafts, Red Falcon Air Demonstration Team uses K-8 trainer aircrafts and the August First Air Demonstration Team uses J-10 fighters.
