hey guyz one of my relative is coming to toronto from karachi in flight pk783, but the flight is delayed, now more than 15 hours!
anybody know why!??
i searched everywhere but couldn't find anything...

. .
called the pearson airport, they said its delayed but they dont know the reason either!
PIA is hiding their incompetence!
this is a new aircraft! and they cant even keep this in flying conditions...smh

.
may be the spares will have to be sent from Pakistan to canada..
That takes time..

.
There was an incident today at isb airport on a flight to khi, something related to that maybe?

.
^^^ some planes had to be diverted into carrying passengers from the flight you mention.
Because of political figures onboard.

.
They are showing on geo tv here that a plane going to overseas has been grounded because of fault in aircraft or its engine, they are reporting the is still in Karachi (this news was reported half hour ago)

.
this flight is suppose to come to Toronto, Canada non stop from KHI
so Rafay you may be correct

.
@razgriz19 : I called the flight inquiry at Jinnah International Airport & they said the flight has been delayed due to operational reasons (they didn't know anything more !) & its set to leave Karachi at 3:00 a.m tonight (its 11:00 p.m right now) at Pakistan Standard Time & would reach Toronto at between 9-10 p.m (evening) as per Toronto timing ! Hope that helps !

Delayed maybe because of an incident such as this ?

Pakistan flight with chief justice on board catches fire

KARACHI: Pakistan Chief Justice and nearly 15 prominent personalities including parliamentarians today underwent some anxious moments when an engine of the flight they were in caught fire just before take-off.

The Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-308 bound for Islamabad, was ready to take off on the taxiway here when fire broke out in one of its engines causing panic and scare among the passengers which included the Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry and several parliamentarians and ministers.

Declaring emergency, Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) cancelled the flight. Rescue teams were sent in dose out the fire and evacuate the passengers.

Federal Minister, Maula Bux Chandio told Geo News channel: "Smoke billowing out of the burning engine escaped into fuselage after they opened the emergency exit hatch. It was suffocating in there. I saw many passengers, who were not feeling well at all, gasping for air."

Another Parliamentarian, Yousuf Talpur criticised the national airlines for using planes which were not fit and putting passengers lives at risk.

"The entry of this very aircraft we were on board is banned in Europe," he said adding that passengers remained trapped in the plane for nearly two hours.

Secretary Production, Gul Mohammad Rind, who was also among the passengers lamented PIA officials apathy at the time of crisis.

"No PIA officer bothered to console us. They seemed so indifferent to this whole ordeal. They were pathetic" Rind said.

He also added that the doors of the plane auto-locked and they could find no way out.

"The captain also locked himself up in the cockpit", Rind said.

PML-N leader Shirin Arshad was reported to have fallen sick after smoke filled the passenger area.

Famed poetess Fehmida Riaz were also aboard the same flight.

The national airlines frequently comes in for criticism for running heavy losses and outdated and under-maintained fleet.

The engine didn't catch fire or had smoke coming out, geo made the fake report and it seems that TOI copy pasted the exact same thing. One of the engine didn't start when aircraft was being pushed back for departure, that's the only reason.

"Karachi airport manager Nasir Sheikh told The Express Tribune that the pilot immediately informed the administration when the fourth engine of the place experienced a technical fault.

Sheikh confirmed that the plane was stopped after the fourth engine’s starter failed to function properly.

“Media has highlighted the issue unnecessarily and tried to make an issue out of it,” he said. “There was no fire and no smoke. The fire vehicles were only sent for precautionary measures.”

The plane, with 421 passengers, was scheduled to depart from Karachi at 5:15pm."

Really appreciate it.

that make sense as the flight was ready to go in a few hours.
if it was a fire, it would be grounded for weeks!

and at least one fire truck and one ambulance is a must on any kind of emergency on a airport. that's the law.
