Has a Yangtze-Iriwaddy Canal were been studied? Especially considering the Malacca dilemma and the desire to develop interior provinces of China. If the north south water project creates a navigable canal between the Yangtze and the Yellow river, goods could go directly to Beijing all the way on the cheapest method of moving freight, by water.
