LAHORE: Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) is to complete development work on three new industrial estates in the least developed districts of the province, Rahim Yar Khan, Bhalwal and Vehari, paving the way for the creation of thousands of jobs, official sources report. PIEDMC, which is a premier infrastructure development organisation, is paying special attention to less developed areas and aims to establish 36 industrial estates in the Punjab.
PIEDMCs board of directors was informed that the first two industrial estates were nearing completion. The board decided to speed up construction work on Vehari Industrial Estate and to complete it during the current financial year. Chairman PIEDMC S. M. Tanveer said the board had approved certain measures that would speed up work on the project. Additionally, the Punjab CM had provided Rs300 million in funds in order to speed up work on the industrial estate.
The Vehari Industrial Estate will spread over 375 acres and the Punjab government has already provided land for this purpose, said Tanveer.
PIEDMC will develop infrastructure such as roads, electricity, water supply, waste disposal system to entice industrialists to set up their projects in Vehari Industrial Estate, he said.
