The region where i belong was the war council for 1947 war of Independence and my village witnessed the first causality of Maharaja HAri Singh's soldier. My people have legacy, the youngest martyr of 1947 was from my family and the first female Sitara e Jurrat was from home town.I did not drive the car but I can tell you my heart was in my mouth. It was scary. When those huge decorated trucks came around the corner and the wheel had to go the edge I was biting my lips. But enjoyed and loved the people. Will never forget. Stayed the night in a PWD motel or guesthouse.
And my heart resonates with what you said about your land and trees. You look at it and you know so many of your generations toiled and worked on that land. Planted orchards, trees etc That is incredibly emotuionally connecting experiance. We just have had our share divided between our siblings and I made it known I am not selling. It's a heritage. Even if it is 10 by 10 feet. It is my connection to the past.
I feel shame whenever any one from Pakistan complaint regarding condition of our roads and infrastructure. Our government is working only to develop areas of their interest and neglect villages.
My district have the worst education facilities in Azad Kashmir but our literacy rate is higher than Islamabad which is 95 percent just because of private schools and colleges mage by locals.
