The Karakoram. This picture was taken by the Italian photographer and mountaineer Vittorio Sella (1859-1943) from the 1909 expedition to K2 and the Karakoram-Gasherbrum Range. It is a remote group of peaks located at the northeastern end of the Baltoro Glacier in the Karakoram Range of the Himalaya on the border of the Chinese-Xinjiang province and the Gilgit-Baltistan territory of Pakistan. The massif contains three of the world's 8,000 meter peaks.
