Hey everyone, Im going to be travelling to Pak via Bham-Islo route and was checking out flights, PIA is coming as the cheapest option for the days that I have selected. So my question is how is PIAs service on international routes? By service I dont mean the airhosts etc.. but how is the food, seats, general vibe of such flights. I dont want to spend my first few days recovering from back pain when I land if it makes sense..

Has there been any people who have used the airline recently for international routes and has the overall airline improved?

Any comments will be appreciated. I might end up going with Turkish airways but just wanted some opinion on PIA before ruling it out completely becos the dates and price they are offering are ideal.

It is really good. Better than many so no worries

My sister and mum went on it in 2015 and they said everything was okay except for the seats so I dont know if airline has sorted that out or no. I get back pain from sitting down for long period so seats need to be atleast reasonable. Plus there were no screens behind seats so nothing to kill time.

Though everything is fine but i just fear the maintenance part.. They do care and follow international standard but news like where pilots are flying w/o degree/certification worries me. On top , politicians say its not issue we should let them fly. Anyway, despite this I choose PIA as it has direct flight.

These are big isssues..
1. Take extra things for comfort like neck pillows etc
2. Take laotop or pad for entertainment. I believe they have no sockets for charging at least in economy class i know.
3. Their ACs are not that controllable so if ever elderly goes, take any thermal with you.

I didn’t even think about that part. Not knowing if the pilot has genuine certification to fly. Im also paranoid about luggage situation but that could go missing with any flight, however with PIA they’d probably blame the passenger and give no compensation to resolve the situation

Thats ground crew issue and mostly occurs for connecting flight and independent of flight carrier. They do give compensation but not that much.

PIA has improved a lot in the last year and now its revenue are going high. So when your sister travelled PIA was a mess but now it has changed dramatically due the management change and hence maintenance is great, onboard services are great and prices are much better. PIA has screens on seats on all of its 777's

Thanks for these pointers. I am leaning towards the other airline now which is £100 more but I only travel once a year so when I do I want some sort of effort on airlines part to make my journey comfortable. I do want to support own brand but I fear I’d just regret it after if I do with the things which I already about them and still choose to go ahead.

Have you travelled on it recently yourself or know of anyone who has? I always belief personal recommendations more than economical stats.

I have not because PIA is not serving on the route between Pakistan and Sweden but my father travels often with PIA ..once a month so he told me about the improvements.

No you were not supporting the brand. You were just opting for it because it was the cheapest option and now with the slightest notion of discomfort (i.e. absence of entertainment which is not true) you are looking for other options even if you have to pay more to travel with other airline.

Yes I wouldn’t go for PIA unless the required needs are met i.e. comfort + safety. I only opted for it due to time and price but my concerns are increased after opening the thread. Would most likely go for TA from the looks of things.
