JVPC with special coating that prevents the need for lubricating oil. Current orders are not for this variant.

I know OFB's suck but they haven't been able to learn and higher their standards even after all these years. I mean look at the quality and finish of those rifles. The local foundry and metal works shop back in my hometown can produce better quality products.

GoI should seriously consider privatizing these OFB's and other non performing PSU's or give the manufacturing and production jobs to private Indian defense firms

They're certainly improving with new milled designs.
Whatever the reforms, it's important not to kill off the INSAS family. We're at a stage where the design is slowly coming of age.

I'm of the opinion that govt should always be a big shareholder in these companies.

We definitely shouldn't kill the INSAS family nor any indigenous weapons system but if the exterior itself is looking crappy, I wonder how the interior components of these rifles are. No wonder they're prone to stoppages, jamming and other issues.

Just look at the difference of their qualities.

Why do you think LM, Airbus, Boeing etc have been offering the manufacturing phase to our Tata and other Indian defense firms. Even the recent defense start ups like Tonbo imaging and MKU Industries produce world class quality products. The designs are definitely good but the quality is pathetic and they look like some cheap chinese toys that you could buy in a village fair

I agree production quality has always been a bane.
And that JVPC line does have a toy feel.
But if it kills good, all is forgiven. So I'll wait to see the result.
Maybe we can call it "the killer nerf".
With good finish, it's gorgeous though.
I do think it should be outsourced to Kalyani or so for a good amount, with emphasis on using that money to modernise.

Obviously can't compare to the looks of SCARs and Bushmasters and such that make a killing in the commercial market.
