PEPCO assures proper power supply to industry

LAHORE: Pakistan Electric Power Company (PEPCO) has put the industrial sector on top of its priorities and making every effort to ensure uninterrupted power supply to it.

The PEPCO Managing Director Rasul Khan Mahsud apprised the Punjab's Senior Minister Raja Riaz Ahmed, who met him at Wapda House here on Wednesday. They discussed the present power scenario in the country particularly the provision of electricity to the industry.

Raja Riaz pointed out the textile industry as one of the most important sectors contributing significantly in the country's economy as well as provide jobs to thousands ofpeople. He said that Faisalabad is the second largest industrial centre of Textiles in Pakistan and all measures should be taken to ensure that this sector and the associate evending and cottage industry are provided power on top priority.

While, Mahsud that power demand and supply gap has now been narrowed down to 500MW only and the situation is likely to further improve with the commissioning of new power projects.

The MD assured the Senior Minister that industry would continue to enjoy top priority and every effort to be made to ensure that the requirements of this sector are met so that economic activity in the country remains unaffected.

Mahsud said that PEPCO has also directed the Chief Executives of the Distribution Companies (DISCOs) for having regular meetings with industrial representatives to ensurebetter power load management.

The MD added that he had already directed the CEO of Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) to maintain proper liaison with business community and extend all possible facilities to them.
