LAHORE: People who deserve to stay in government houses are kept in waiting while ineligible ones enjoy the perks, observed Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday.

While hearing the case in Supreme Court Lahore registry, the chief justice asked Punjab Chief Secretary Zahid Saeed why the ineligible people were still government-owned houses.

To this, the chief secretary said 62 people have stay orders from the civil courts.

The CJP remarked, that people who take stay orders from the courts enjoy the government-owned facilities without being eligible for the perks, while those who qualify for the use are kept waiting.

He added that some of them have even rented out the government houses, making money out of a property they do not own.

Justice Nisar ordered the chief secretary to hand over the list of people who are still using the houses.

These stay orders have ruined half of Pakistan! Courts should stop giving stay orders like a stupid institute! 90% of the time it is for illegal purposes and courts allow it! Maybe CJP should look into the process of getting a stay order!

Elections are a necessary neuicense. Naray bazi is just for show. Pakistan needs to move forward instead of more of the same stuck in a quagmire state.

The only issue i have with this judiciary is that it has a nack of playing for the gallaries besides deliberating and adjudicating on the law. And so we see the VVIP accused getting more mocking in our faces leeway instead of a deserved slap on their wrists.

I thought they were tentative but now i am sure that it is engrained in their brains of our judiciary and they will always be partly subjugated to the powerful elite even if they are standing up to them on legal grounds.

There is only Allah after Judiciary.

I told you a very long ago we dont have the laws to tackle many issues.

I guess SC was told the same thing today too.

Gradual was the decline and gradual will be the Rise.

In my opinion, in order to step forward, a lot from the past needs to be cleared...All this and more has never been addressed by any politician and isnt even in any politician's election campaign...Someone has to do it, right?

But yes I agree, they just dig up cases and dont give proper punishment! I too am starting to wonder if even courts can touch politicians!

In normal countries the government provides houses for the poor, in Pakistan they provide houses for the rich

Well said...not just houses, taxes are relaxed for the rich, the rich get provisions, facilities for not paying tax, the rich gets free housing even after they are kicked out of office....the rich go begging more than the poor ...
