Kolkata: Ahead of his visit to Lalgrah, Union Home Minister Chidambaram held a meeting with Bengal Chief Minister Budhadev Bhattacharjee on Saturday, to take a stock of the joint anti-Maoist operations.
Chidambaram met Bhattacharhee for the first time since the two met in Kolkata on February 9 last.
Bhattacharjee is believed to have updated the Union minister on the latest developments in the Junglemahal area of West Bengal, including the joint forces operations against the rebels.
Meanwhile, the People's Committee against Police's Atrocity have called a 24 hour band in West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia. They have also threatened to launch an indefinite blockade in the region from Monday.
