ISLAMABAD: Worn out by scorching heat and then heavy rain, allegedly hired on meager payments Pakistan Awami Tehreek marchers have become desperate to return to their home towns in Punjab, BBC Urdu reported on Saturday.

According to a BBC Urdu report, the participants of the prolonged sit-in are not being allowed to leave for their homes by the PAT organizers.

Navid, a resident of Bahawalpur and a student of 10th class, whose real name was not given due to security reasons, told BBC that the PAT office bearers paid Rs6000 to his family. “PAT local leader Tanvir Abbasi told my family that Navid is going to Islamabad to attend Inquilab March and will return home within three days,” BBC Urdu quoted the boy as saying.

Navid said that almost three hundred youngsters were brought from Bahawalpur and adjacent areas.

He said that the “rented participants” have been divided into battalions of 20 boys each and in-charges of the groups inform the organizers about their attendance on daily basis.

@Chak Bamu, @Syed.Ali.Haider - true or BBC propaganda?

No surprise in this news story. It is already well known.

This is just another page from the well tried-and-true recipe book used by the "angels".

Divinely funded. Of course. :D

The BBC report goes on to say that women were similarly recruited and told to bring their children along - even infants, some who wanted to go back were threatened with death.

It is a simple payment per head per day subject to verified attendance. But there are no threats, people are free to leave if they want to. They will just not get paid.

You missed the part - they were paid in advance - reminds me of our politicians who pay out for people to come to their meetings. :D

Besides, if true - then what would you call it - A "rigged" dharna?

Wife works as a teacher in TuQ's organization school. She went to PAT Dharna without informing her husband. He asked her why she left? She said that she asked her mom. The quarrel got out of hand and he divorced her.

Small sacrifice for a big cause. How big? Time will tell.

Musharraf's Rent-a-Rally on 12 May 2007 was a bit similar. Musharraf supporters would have a cow on the spot when told that the people were low level government employees and people brought on rent. Providing proof was met either with deafening silence or accusations.

PML-N does the same thing. The label of 'patwari crowd' is essentially correct. Teachers and other government employees are compelled to attend PML-N rallies that take place in Punjab.

Not only the dharna, but the whole damn circus is scripted.

Before the march started, Dr Death asked his followers to "martyr those who return from the revolution". There was a public outcry, Dr Death went on the defensive and then clarified that he was only talking about "martyring Dr Death and Imran Khan if they returned from the march."

I know this by sitting in the US. You can do anything in the name of religion combined with some money. This is a pure example right here. Both the parties have people paid for their acts. One of the reasons why I am against this march. This protest could've been done by IK sitting at the Parliament gate with his elected members. That would've carried more weight than getting many killed, injured and then making the country lose trillions !!

Besides, if true - then what would you call it - A "rigged" dharna?

Precisely my point. If you listen to PAT/PTI, it just sounds silly, what we do is all legal, what you do is all illegal whether anyone agrees with it or not. Where we won, it was all legal, where we lost, it was all rigging

Reminds me of tactics employed by the indian low level leaders to bring cadres----all men were promised a plate of biryani and a medium bottle of "foreign liquor/whiskey" + 100 bucks..... All those who agreed packed up on a truck like goats going for execution.

TUQ is the only person who has an agenda in line with the aspiration of every Pakistani, PAT is a Social-Justice party which is turned into a successful Political Party a pure Punjabi style of Party.

His 10 point agenda is one of the best. Qadri's troops led from the front.

Everyone else's agenda is for their own benefit including IK. Prior to these protests his (IK) agenda has been primarily vote rigging since his party did not get the number of seats it expected ( and should have got). His listening to TUQ has actually improved his oratory skills, otherwise he used to be very monotone in the delivery of his speeches.

I think TUQ did not agree with IK that he will stay on protest until NS resigns , after delivering his speech atop IK's container because he knew IK is a politician and you can't trust a politician to stick to his word. IK also needs to learn to think about what he says. Almost every day he was saying that in the next 24hrs NS is gone... which only raised suspicion that the PA was behind him, allowing the crooks to claim PA behind protests and forced PA to issue a denial ( and possibly removing PA option to act and send NS packing).
